The Best way to go if Your Company Wants to Grow A New Standard of Enterprise Computing is Coming in 2010 |
BayCom Information Systems - a Division of
Camin Cargo Control
is pleased to announce the upcoming release of Visual LabPro.Net.
Several of
our progressive customers have recognized the need to upgrade their LIMS to a
browser-based solution in order to expand their business, and eliminate
functional limitations imposed by Microsoft FoxPro development technology. Soon our customers will have the opportunity
to seamlessly migrate their existing LIMS data to a web-based LIMS solution that
incorporates the highest security standards, most powerful reporting technology
currently available, easy-of-use and flexibility that is unmatched by any of
the overpriced LIMS products available on the market today.
Upgrading
your FoxPro version of Visual LabPro to Visual
LabPro.Net will allow your company to take advantage of the more pervasive and
extensible information management technologies available on the Internet today
as well as the greater abundance of Internet technologies that will be available
in the future.
Why should your company consider upgrading to
Visual LabPro.Net?
Most current and
future server-based software development technologies are not compatible with
the FoxPro version of Visual LabPro. For example, applications that drive large
businesses today require a scalable work-process model that incorporates
assembled components that interact within the server framework. Components of this model include methods and
services to handle network security, data access, reporting services, file
management, session state control, messaging, automation and much more.
Web applications
can more easily and effectively share resources across the Internet than
Microsoft Windows applications. For
example, web applications can call services hosted on any Internet server to
perform operations such as user authentication and execute routine arithmetic
functions such as test calculations. Web
applications can also share distributed resources hosted on other web services
such as flash/media players, images and style classes.
We are discovering
today that not only are larger businesses imparting more demands on their enterprise
application servers and less on their corporate workstations, smaller companies
are facing escalating challenges with software that is dependent on the desktop
operating system. In addition, many
smaller companies cannot afford to continuously upgrade their corporate
workstations to satisfy the ever-increasing processing, memory and storage
requirements of bloated operating systems such as Windows Vista that are
modeled more for the home/multi-media user than business user.
Web-based applications operate within an Internet browser and therefore, are
not dependent on the desktop operating system or the type of computer. Consequently, it is a prudent decision for
ALL business to migrate towards a server enterprise-computing environment and
relinquish their dependency on the desktop operating system.
Whenever updates
are performed to the FoxPro version of Visual LabPro,
it is usually a timely and painstaking process.
This is because many of the updates require a new executable application
file to be created and deployed.
Creating the executable file only takes a few minutes; however deploying
the new executable application file can be a daunting task, since it has to be
scheduled when all users can exit Visual LabPro. In addition, users that fail to exit Visual
LabPro when requested have to manually be
disconnected before most updates can be deployed. This will obviously become more of a nuisance
to your LIMS administrators the more your company grows.
Conversely, updates to web applications do not require projects to be
recompiled and can be deployed any time without any interference with end-user
activities.
All of our Visual
LabPro customers have experienced the numerous
limitations with the Visual FoxPro report designer. Reports rendered in the FoxPro version of Visual
LabPro are displayed as screen images instead of
objects, making it virtually impossible to dynamically change report layout
settings or selected data records after the report is displayed. Visual LabPro.Net reports are developed
using Microsoft Reporting Services, which delivers more power than any
other web reporting technology available today.
In addition Visual LabPro.Net reports and are much easier to
develop and can quickly be exported in most popular document formats. Report properties and data filters can be
changed while viewing the report instead over closing the report, defining the
report selection criteria and displaying the report again. Listed below are a few examples of standard
reports included with Visual LabPro.Net
